Tallmadge Twp. man dies from gunshot wound

Tallmadge Twp., MI (WGHN) – A 19-year-old man who was shot Saturday in Talmadge Township has dies from this injuries. The man is being identified as Connor Lotterman from Tallmadge Township.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Kent County Medical Examiner Dr. Stephen Cohle that the 19 year-old male died as a result of injuries suffered during this incident. On 05/14/25, a forensic autopsy was completed by Dr. Cohle. The manner of death was determined to be accidental, caused by a gunshot wound to the head.

Since that time, detectives have continued to work on the case. Initial information is that a group of friends and acquaintances had gathered at the Tallmadge Township residence for a social gathering on the night of 05/09/2025. During the party, a 20 year-old male obtained a firearm that was located in the residence. The male then fired multiple rounds through the floor of an upstairs bedroom. The bullets penetrated the floor and one struck a 19 year-old male in the head. The victim was in a downstairs room at the time. Alcohol is suspect to be a factor in this incident.

Investigators are working with the Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for a review for any potential criminal charges for the 20 year-old male. His name will not be released at this time.
