(Traverse City, MI) – Grand Traverse County will pay Patricia MacIntosh 100-thousand-dollars to settle her lawsuit over former county commissioner Ron Clous showing a rifle during a meeting. Clous displayed the weapon during a 2021 meeting held online and MacIntosh sued, saying he was trying to silence her right to free speech. The former commissioner also apologized, saying he understands it “could have reasonably have caused you to feel uncomfortable or intimidated.”

MacIntosh was asking the commission to make a statement opposing anti-government extremists a few weeks after the January 6th, 2021 insurrection attempt at the U.S. Capitol.
