Electric Vehicle Tax Credits Could End

By Mary Ellen Murphy May 13, 2025 | 6:23 AM

(Washington, DC) – U.S. House Republicans have proposed ending the federal electric vehicle tax credits to pay for President Trump’s tax package. The tax credits were put in place by former President Biden and Republicans want to get rid of them. Trump has also called the credits a green new scam.

The proposal calls for the tax credit of up to 75 hundred dollars to go away by the end of 2026 and only automakers who have sold less than 200 thousand EVs by the end of 2025 would be eligible for the credit next year.
