(Grand Rapids, MI) – Former Michigan police officer Christopher Schurr says he would not be alive if he didn’t shoot Patrick Lyoya during an April 2022 traffic stop. Schurr went through the event today on the witness stand.
Schurr was shown the body cam video of the incident in Grand Rapids where he struggled with Lyoya over his taser. He said he feared for his life. The case has sparked racial divisions as Schurr is white and Lyoya is Black.
