Missing Ottawa County Mom and son found in Missouri; two other children missing

 Ottawa County, MI (WGHN) – This is an updated news release from the Otttawa County Sheriff’s Office:

Updated Information:

The Sheriff’s Office was notified this afternoon from authorities in St. Louis, Missouri that they had located Michelle Lynn Olszewski and her youngest son who is 8 years old. They have been placed in protective custody at this time while their investigation continues. The whereabouts of Michelle’s other two children are still unknown and authorities in St. Louis are actively looking for their location. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

 

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the media’s assistance in any information that can help locate a missing Park Township mother and her 3 children.

On 5/1/2025, the Ottawa Co. Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a suspicious disappearance of a mother and her three kids, ages 14,10 and 8. The mother is identified as Michelle Lynn Olszewski, age 50. Through investigation, it was learned that Michelle removed the children from school on 4/30/25 and left the state of Michigan. Her rental car and belongings were located in a hotel in Indiana.

Ottawa investigators have been working with Mishawaka Police Department who are assisting in attempting to locate Michelle and her children. They did find evidence that Michelle may be mentally unstable at this time and has a history of mental instability.

Michelle and her children have not been seen at or near the hotel in Indiana since May 1st and do not have any source of known transportation. They are also traveling with their dog, “Lambchop” which is a Shiba Inu breed and is medium size, golden brown in color with some white as well.
