(Detroit, MI) – Saying “Medicaid is not for sale,” Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order in Detroit yesterday ordering an impact study on possible cuts to the federal service. She says two-point-six-million Michiganders get health coverage from Medicaid. Whitmer’s order requires the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to analyze the impacts of the proposed 880-billion-dollar cut in the budget plan proposed by U.S. House Republicans.
Congresswoman Debbie Dingell says 75-percent of the children who are treated at Children’s Hospital in Detroit are covered by Medicaid.
