Election Commission meeting in City of Grand Haven today

Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – The City of Grand Haven Election Commission will hold a meeting on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Clerk’s Office located at 519 Washington Avenue, Grand Haven, MI 49417. The purpose of the meeting pertains to precincts, polling places, inspectors of election, and other election proceedings for the upcoming May 6, 2025, Special Election.

Grand Haven Township

Four Pointes Millage Renewal – Grand Haven Township voters will be asked to renew a 0.245-mill increase in property taxes for the next four years to provide funds for the North Ottawa County Council on Aging (Four Pointes Center for Successful Aging), for the purpose of planning, coordinating, evaluating and providing services to older residents. If approved, the millage will raise approximately $275,000 in 2025.

Ottawa Area Intermediate School District

Special Education Millage – The Ottawa Area ISD is seeking 1.2525 mills ($1.24 on each $1,000 of a property’s taxable value) to provide funds for the education of students with disabilities. The renewal would be for 18 years, through 2044.

The Grand Haven, Spring Lake and West Ottawa school districts will all be seeking renewals to collect 18 mills on all properties other than primary residences. This would provide approximately $20.87 million to fund the Grand Haven district’s operating expenses and approximately $4.66 million to fund Spring Lake Public Schools’ operating expenses and $19.6 million to fund West Ottawa Public Schools’ operating expenses.

Port Sheldon Township

Fire Department Operating Millage – Voters in Port Sheldon Township will be asked to approve a 0.55-mill tax increase for seven years to provide operating funds for their fire department. If approved, the township estimates it will receive $326,957 of additional revenues in 2025.
