(Oakland County, MI) – Republican Mike Rogers is running for U.S. Senate in Michigan again. The former U.S. Representative from White Lake announced in January that he was considering a run after sitting Democratic U.S. Senator Gary Peters said he would retire at the end of his term. Rogers lost to now U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin by 19-thousand-votes last November.

He carried an endorsement from President Trump in his previous race.

On Monday, Republican Congressman Bill Huizenga of Michigan’s 4th District hinted he might run for the Senate in 2026. The announcement comes just days after Democrat Jessica Swartz announced her intention to run against Huizenga in hopes of taking Michigan’s 4th District Congressional seat.

Michigan’s last Republican senator was Spencer Abraham, who served from Jan. 3, 1995 to Jan. 3, 2001.
