Increase in unemployment for 2024 in Ottawa County, BOC meets tonight

Ottawa County, MI (WGHN) – Ottawa County’s annual unemployment rate for 2024 was 3.8%. This rate, recently released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget, shows an increase in unemployment in Ottawa County from 2023’s rate of 3.0%.

Also released were the preliminary unemployment rates for January 2025. Ottawa County’s unemployment rate for January measured 4.5%. This rate was the third lowest in the state of Michigan in January, with Washtenaw County also having an unemployment rate of 4.5%. The lowest rate in the state was 3.8% in Livingston County. The highest rate was 21.6% in Mackinac County.
