(Lansing, MI) – A resolution urging the Michigan High School Athletic Association to ban transgender girls from competing in girls’ sports has been passed by the state House. Eight Democrats joined the majority Republicans in support of the resolution that passed 66-to-43. The MHSAA approved two transgender girls to compete in fall sports in 2024, and none for winter or spring sports.
Equality Michigan executive director Erin Knott says the MHSAA already has rules about who can participate in different sports at different levels and a ban is not needed.
