(Lansing, MI) – State Representative Josh Schriver of Oxford is sponsoring a resolution to urge the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn its ruling that legalized same-sex marriage. Schriver wants Obergefell v. Hodges to be overturned because he believes it is at odds with “the sanctity of marriage, the Michigan Constitution and the principles upon which the country was established.” In his media advisory, the Republican says “increased instances of religious persecution have been a consequence of the Court’s ruling 10 years ago,” and adds some have been in Michigan.
Two Democratic representatives from Hazel Park and Ann Arbor, both of whom are gay and married, will respond at a press conference today.
