(Grand Haven, MI) – Grand Haven Area Public Schools officials say they will close Mary A. White Elementary School at the end of this academic year and move the students to Robinson, Rosey Mound, and Peach Plains elementary schools. Parents are livid over the announcement, and addressed the school board and superintendent last night at the district’s first open informational session.
Grand Haven community speaks:
Superintendent Perkowski:
She says the district has had a decline of nearly one-thousand students in the past decade and will lose another 650 students in the next five years. She added it “isn’t a fun decision,” saying she is
also not excited about it but doesn’t want the district to close in two years either.
