Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Journalist Sarah Leach with the Ottawa News Network and Mary Ellen Murphy of WGHN radio are two journalists in a pod with the latest happenings in Ottawa County this week.

A lot happened on a county level and in the state of Michigan Thursday and Friday and they address it all here in the podcast below.

Democrats sound the alarm on Medicaid cuts. Mary Ellen attends a press conference with Rep. Scholten and Rep. Stevens and says the face of Medicaid has changed.

Consumers Energy will be on WGHN Monday in anticipation of the county board meeting on Tuesday. Sarah just released a story on the Campbell Plant on Ottawa News Network. It takes five years to decommission a plant. They operate on a 20-year plan.

Crockery Lake is on the agenda. Board Chair John Teeples will be on Good Morning Grand Haven on 921. WGHN Wednesday, February 26. 

Sarah sounds off on the latest in her school district as Grand Haven Area Public Schools (GHAPS) announced a building transition plan Thursday that is aimed at enhancing early childhood education while optimizing district facilities to meet the evolving needs of the Grand Haven community. Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, Mary A. White Elementary will transition into an early learning center with a focus on nature-based learning programs. Parents were sent another email Friday evening. There is a parent meeting Monday evening.
