Holland, MI (WGHN) – A 78-year-old Holland woman has died after a crash in Holland Township. The Ottawa Couty Sheriff’s Office says that at approximately 11: 12 a.m. deputies were dispatched to an injury crash near the intersection of Riley St. and 112th Avenue in Holland Township. Initial reports stated a silver sedan and a white SUV crashed in the intersection.
Investigation shows an 86-year-old man, accompanied by a 78- year- old passenger, had been westbound on Riley Street at 112th Avenue in a Pontiac sedan when the Pontiac proceeded with a left turn to turn south on 112th Avenue where it was struck by a Ford SUV.
The other vehicle involved, a Ford SUV, had been operated by a 34 year old female from Zeeland. The Ford SUV was eastbound on Riley Street proceeding straight through the intersection at 112th Avenue. The traffic signal at the intersection was reported to be green for eastbound and westbound Riley Street traffic.
The 78 year old passenger from the Pontiac sedan was transported to Zeeland Community Hospital ER where she passed away from her injuries.
The intersection was partially closed during the investigation and cleanup but has since re-opened and the crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services division.
