(Lansing, MI) – Ice coverage of the Great Lakes is increasing. Lake Michigan’s ice coverage has tripled since January 17 and is now at 21-point-49-percent. Lake Superior’s ice coverage is at ten-point-55-percent, Lake Ontario is at ten-point-49-percent, and Lake Huron’s ice coverage is up to 30-point-94-percent. Lake Erie has by far the most ice coverage at 80-point-93-percent.

The arctic air blast last week greatly expanded the ice on the lakes.
