(Washington, DC) – Steven Ford, one of former President Gerald Ford’s four children, read his father’s eulogy written for former President Jimmy Carter yesterday at Carter’s funeral. The two became lifelong friends while returning from the funeral of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1981, five years after Carter defeated Ford in the 1976 election. Ford and Carter both wrote eulogies for each other, with Carter delivering his at Ford’s funeral January 2nd, 2007 at Grace Episcopal Church in Grand Rapids, opening it thanking Ford :for all he has done to heal our land.”
In yesterday’s eulogy, Ford said “I’m looking forward to our reunion; we have much to catch up on.”
