(Grand Rapids, MI) – The principal at Grand Rapids’ Alger Middle School is looking at drunk driving charges. Prosecutors filed formal charges against principal Charlie Lovelady after his arrest last week. Kent County deputies found Lovelady last Tuesday, alone in his car about 1 a.m. Deputies say he smelled of booze, had bloodshot eyes, and was slurring his words. Lovelady is facing charges under Michigan’s ‘super drunk’ law, the sheriff’s office says his blood-alcohol-content was three-times the legal limit.
Grand Rapids Schools say they are aware of Lovelady’s arrest and the new charges, but the district says it’s not making any decisions until the judicial process plays out.
