Four Candidates vying for Ottawa County Administrator Position

West Olive, MI (WGHN) –  The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners Executive Transition Committee Meets today at 10 a.m. at the Fillmore Street Complex. Meeting will be streamed on the County YouTube page.

Four public interviews will be held for the Administrator Position

From the Holland Sentinel:

1. Public Interview – Jim Lower

James Lower is currently village manager for Sparta and served as village manager for Edmore in 2015. He was director of strategy and operations for the Michigan House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023, after serving as a state representative from 2017 to 2020. He was legislative director for the Michigan State Senate in 2013 and an Ionia County Commissioner from 2011 to 2012. He has a bachelor’s in economics from Michigan State University and a master’s from Grand Valley State University.

2. Public Interview – Christopher Estes

Christopher Estes has been the president and CEO of Security Credit Union in Grand Blanc since 2011. He has no municipal government experience, according to his resume. Estes has a bachelor’s in finance from Grand Valley State University and a master’s from Northwood University.

3. Public Interview – James Freed

James Freed is the current city manager for Port Huron. According to his resume, he was previously city manager for Stanton, village manager for Lakeview, and assistant to the city manager in Walled Lake. Freed has a bachelor’s in political science from Indiana Wesleyan University and a master’s in business administration from Northwood University. In 2022, he received the Michigan Municipal Executives Community Leadership Award.

4. Public Interview – Patrick Jordan

Patrick Jordan is the current county administrator for Ionia County, and has served in the role since 2022. He previously served as city manger for Escanaba and county administrator in Wexford County. Jordan has a bachelor’s in political science from Grand Valley State University and a master’s in public administration from Western Michigan University.

Thursday, Nov 21 the committee will select 2 candidates to move to the next round.
Friday, Nov 22 will be the next round of interviews with the final 2 candidates.
Monday, Nov 25 the committee will meet to select a candidate to bring to the full board.
Tuesday, Nov 26 the full board will vote on the candidate.
