Los Angeles, CA) – You probably already know by now that The Beatles are up for Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance Grammys. What you may not know is that “Now and Then,” which used A-I to add Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison to an unreleased John Lennon tape, would be The Beatles’ first-ever Record of the Year win. This marks The Beatles’ fourth Record of the Year nomination and first since 1970 when “Let It Be” lost out to Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Waters.” The Beatles also lost to Simon and Garfunkel two years earlier as “Mrs. Robinson” beat out “Hey Jude.”

The Fab Four won Best New Artist and Best Performance By a Vocal Group for “A Hard Day’s Night” at the 1964 Grammys. But “I Want To Hold Your Hand” was denied Record of the Year thanks to “The Girl From Ipanema” by Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto.
