Man Charged with Contractor Fraud and False Pretenses

Grand Rapids, MI (WGHN) – A Grand Rapids man who allegedly cheated several homeowners and business owners out of more than 100,00 dollars for projects that were never finished has been charged.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says Wesley Pawloski, 30, has been charged with four counts total of felony contractor fraud. The investigation started in July 2023 when a An Ottawa County resident reported that they had paid Blackstone Partners LLC for construction work, but the work never got done. From there investigators say, they learned that several subcontractors had provided services to Blackstone Partners but had never been paid in full.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators tracked down the owner of Blackstone Partners: Pawloski. The office says three counts of felony contractor fraud were authorized in August 2024.

In September, deputies say they learned Pawloski was still accepting money for projects using a different business name: Designed Construction LLC. Investigators found that more people had paid Designed Construction for projects that never got done.

On Oct. 29 Pawloski was arrested in Grand Rapids He was arraigned Oct. 30 on the initial set of charges but now deputies say the prosecutor’s office issued an additional count of felony contractor fraud, and Pawloski was arraigned Tuesday on this charge.

Pawloski has since posted bond and has been released from the Ottawa County Jail.
