GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Congresswoman Hillary Scholten has won her second term to serve Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District in the United States Congress. In 2022, she became the first woman and mother ever to represent West Michigan in Congress. Her decisive victory makes history again as she became the first Democrat to win two consecutive terms since the Civil War.
In her first term, Scholten brought back nearly $200M to West Michigan and even announced an $11.7M federal investment for Ferrysburg’s Smith Bayou Bridge on Monday. After years of inconsistent leadership for West Michigan, the region has found a steadfast champion in Scholten.
Congresswoman Scholten released the following statement:
“I set out to build a new political home in West Michigan, and with this decisive victory, we’ve proven that what we made is built to last. It truly is a new day in West Michigan. It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve you in Congress, and I’m ready to get back to work.”
