Ottawa County, MI – (WGHN) – Mosaic Counseling, a nonprofit entity founded in 1978, is excited to announce the launch of a $1.3 million fundraising campaign called “You Matter,” aimed at expanding its mental health counseling services across Ottawa County and into adjacent Kent County. This initiative will enhance access to essential mental health care for adults, teens, and children, ensuring services remain affordable and accessible regardless of the ability to pay, with a special emphasis on providing more counseling services to youth. Local youth assessments and the Center for Disease Control report that 31% of teens struggle with depression and 20% have seriously considered suicide.

Mosaic Counseling is renowned for its commitment to providing timely support for individuals and families regardless of insurance status. The organization is deeply integrated into the local community, actively offering on-site services in schools and counseling support to local employers and businesses. The need has been so great that Mosaic has been encouraged by fellow mental health advocates to expand into Kent County.
Sarah Lewakowski, Executive Director of Mosaic Counseling, emphasized the critical need for expanded services: “Mental health care is a fundamental need, and our community deserves accessible and timely support. This campaign is a vital step in ensuring we can reach more individuals and families who need our services.”
The campaign has already made significant progress, with close to $750,000 raised thanks to the dedicated efforts of campaign leadership, including Christine Clover, Jeff Elhart, and Jessica Tomac. Tomac expressed her gratitude for the community’s support: “The outpouring of generosity from our community has been incredible. Every dollar donated translates into $3 worth of mental health services, magnifying the impact of each contribution.”
Elhart also highlighted the broader vision of the campaign: “Expanding into Kent County allows us to extend our reach and provide much-needed services to a larger population. It’s an exciting time for Mosaic Counseling, and we are committed to making a profound difference in the lives of many, particularly area youth.”
With the funds raised, Mosaic Counseling will enhance its ability to offer high-quality mental health care to those in need, ensuring that no one is turned away due to financial constraints. The organization remains steadfast in its mission to support the mental well-being of the community, one individual at a time.
