(Detroit, MI) –Detroit City Clerk Janice Winfrey has a goal she thinks can be attained of having all results of the November 5 election reported in time for the 11 p.m. TV news. That would be much faster than in 2020, when supporters of then-President Trump demanded workers stop tallying absentee ballots at Huntington Place. Winfrey says most of the work to tabulate absentee votes will be done in the nine days before the election and then they will be counted with other ballots after the polls close.
Nearly 57-thousand absentee ballots, representing 14-point-three-percent of registered voters, have already been returned.
