(Ottawa County, MI) – Todd Achterhof, a fire captain from Park Township who resigned in May from the Graafschap Fire Department is facing several charges in a child porn investigation.. Achterhor has been charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct related to child pornography.
The charges include aggravated possession, distribution, and possession of child sexually abusive material, as well as using a computer to commit a crime. The investigation, led by the FBI’s West Michigan Child Exploitation Task Force, revealed Achterhof allegedly groomed and assaulted a family member over a year.
He was apprehended after an undercover agent uncovered his online activities. Achterhof was arraigned with a bond set at 75-thousand dollars and has been dismissed from his role at Hope College.
