(Port Sheldon Township, MI) – Despite the efforts of bystanders, a 38-year-old Grand Rapids man has drowned in Lake Michigan. He was pulled from the water in Port Sheldon yesterday afternoon after people saw him go underwater and not resurface about 100 yards from shore. They began CPR after getting him to the beach, but he was pronounced dead.
Nearby state park beaches in Holland and Grand Haven had yellow and red flags, respectively, due to the high waves on the lake.
