(Moorland Township, MI) – Consumers Energy has broken ground on a 19-hundred acre solar farm in Muskegon County. It is the utility’s first large-scale solar project and will produce 250 megawatts of power that can provide electricity to 40-thousand homes. The county owns the land in Moorland Township and is leasing it to Consumers. County board of commissioners chairman Charles Nash says the lease takes over for the profit the county used to get from the farmland the solar farm will be on.
Moorland Township and Ravenna Schools will also benefit with more revenue.
