Grand Haven Boardwalk Update

By Mary Ellen Murphy May 23, 2024 | 7:00 AM

Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – Part of the Grand Haven Boardwalk is temporarily closed at Government Basin, near the Army Corps of Engineers building at 307 S Harbor Drive. The closure and accompanying pedestrian detour are necessary for seawall and walkway repairs being completed by the Army Corp of Engineers. An ADA-accessible detour route has been established to ensure all residents and visitors can continue to enjoy the boardwalk.

Grand Haven’s iconic boardwalk is celebrating 40 years this Summer. Donations are being accepted through the maintenance fund at the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation for repairs.

In September of this year, the City of Grand Haven will undertake the project of boardwalk repair again. The boardwalk repair depends on donation support to see the project complete.
The City of Grand Haven has partnered with The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation and has established a fund to accept donations for Fall project.

After Labor Day in September, a complete replacement of the wooden boardwalk will take place.
