Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – The  Ottawa County GOP held an event Thursday night in Grand Haven. They endorsed several candidates in the Republican Primary. Many Candidates including Jim Barry, Josh Brugger, John Teeples, Sarah Bajema and more candidates put out statements saying they would not attend.

Bajema stated in a news release that it is unprecedented for the GOP in Ottawa County.

“It is unprecedented for the GOP in Ottawa County to vet any Republican candidate prior to a primary election, and this so-called endorsement convention seeks to disenfranchise Republican voters and divide the party. I do not agree with this endorsement or resolution as written and therefore, I will not be attending the endorsement convention, nor will I accept an endorsement from it.
When elected, I will be representing the district 11 Ottawa County residents and my decision-making will be based on common sense and integrity and I will not be subject to any attempt by Ottawa Impact to control my actions or votes as County Commissioner.”

Bajema  is running for Allison Meidema’s seat on the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners.

Meanwhile Ottawa Impact has now targeted the League of Woman Voters on the website Simply American that is run by Ottawa Impact. They state that  The League of Women Voters claims to be nonpartisan, when in reality the organization engages in extremely partisan politics and spends most of its programming dollars on lobbying for progressive policies.
