Search and Rescue Exercise in Allendale on Saturday

Allendale, MI (WGHN) – On Saturday, Grand Valley State University will be hosting a search and rescue exercise in the ravines area between the Allendale campus and the Grand River. This event will test the coordinated capabilities of the Michigan Search and Rescue (MI SAR) team, the Ottawa County Emergency Management Search and Rescue team, the Allendale Fire Department, and the Wright-Tallmadge Fire Department and the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office’s Drone Teams.

This event will involve coordinated search and rescue by aerial and ground resources (including K-9’s) for multiple missing individuals, and their subsequent extraction by local Fire Department personnel over challenging terrain. Staging for this exercise will begin at 10:00 a.m.  on 5/4/24, in Parking Lot D8 of the GVSU Allendale campus. The event is  is closed to the general public.
