Grand Haven, Michigan – The Chamber of Commerce Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg hosted its annual dinner celebration on Thursday, May 2, 2024. The celebration welcomes the
Chamber’s new board chair, serves as the official graduation ceremony for Leadership Connect and awards individuals in our community for their significant contributions to Northwest Ottawa
County.
Cara Galbavi of Cara Galbavi Law was introduced as the Chamber’s new board chair. Galbavi says, “One of the first things I did when I opened my new practice just over 14 years ago was join the Chamber. I am honored to be the incoming Chair and am excited we are strengthening our relationships with other local organizations and continue to build our connections with our 5 local units of government.”

Ashley Latsch from the City of Grand Haven awarded the Dr. Elizabeth Curtis, Young Professional Award.  This award recognizes a young professional between the ages of 21 and 40 who embodies the business, community, and volunteer philosophy of the late Dr. Curtis. Ashley is committed to excellence and is always willing to take on a task or challenge to support the
community through her job and volunteer endeavors. She has served as a mentor to empower and support others, engages in community events, and always serves as an Ambassador for our
community. She is an exemplary role model for all.

Chris Streng of Great Lakes Financial Insurance Agency awarded the Spirit of Community Award. This award recognizes and honors an individual who provides valuable service by devoting time and energy to the community and demonstrates leadership and initiative in the development of volunteer projects. Chris represents the true meaning of servant leadership and places importance on giving back. He is mindful of the challenges others face and is always willing to lend a helping hand to a community member in need. Chris is involved with various boards and volunteer opportunities and has been instrumental in assisting the organizations he serves as they navigate through difficult times. He is a familiar face to many in the community and always has a genuine smile with a warm and welcoming greeting.

Tom Reinsma of Scholten Fant awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. This award honors, recognizes and celebrates those in our community who strive toward the highest level of professional accomplishments, who excel in their chosen profession and have devoted significant time and energy to improve the community’s quality of life. Tom made his way to Grand Haven in 1966 and has practiced law in the community for over 40 years. During that time, he has quietly but diligently worked to impact organizations and individuals to achieve affordable housing options and he has made significant strides to improving the lives of seniors in Ottawa County. Tom has never sought attention for himself. He fights for the unseen, often taking cases pro bono
and standing up for those that cannot stand up for themselves. He has given a lifetime of service to those in our community that need a hand up and has used his expertise to make an impact in
organizations striving to serve the less fortunate.

“We are fortunate to have such incredible leaders in our community as we have in Ashley, Chris and Tom” says Chamber President, Mark Allen. “The Chamber thanks them for their past, present and future contributions to Northwest Ottawa County.”
