(ALLENDALE)-The Grand Valley State University Men’s Division III Hockey program capped an amazing season with an honor for its head coach.

Dylan Knox, who piloted the Lakers to a sparkling 25-3-1-1 record in the 2023-24 campaign, has earned the American Collegiate Hockey Association Coach of the Year Award.

The D3 squad was a powerhouse this season, with an average margin of victory of almost four goals a game. GVSU spent most of the year between #1 and #3 in national rankings and finished as the runner-up in the National Finals in St. Louis after being toppled by Lawrence Tech.

This is Knox’s first honor and Grand Valley’s third-ever Coach of the Year distinction. Mike Forbes won the same award for the Men’s D2 team in 2011, and Cory Whitaker received the nod for his work with the Women’s D1 program in 2010.

Knox will receive the award at the May ACHA Annual Meeting in Nashville.
