(Grand Rapids, MI) – The Michigan Department of Transportation is telling drivers to add extra time if they are heading north on US-131 in Grand Rapids. The highway is closed at 28th Street to Burton Street for the next month for bridge rehab of the Plaster Creek Bridge south of Burton Street. MDOT says the detours will add ten to 15 minutes to the commute and the best way around it is to take M-6 west to Interstate 196 or east to I-96 and take those into downtown.
US-131 will close southbound from Burton to 28th Street next month once the bridge work is done northbound.
