Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – In Muskegon Court Wednesday, Judge Jenny McNeill ruled that a settlement between the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners and Health Officer Adeline Hambley was in fact agreed upon properly; however, it still cannot be enforced according to Fox 17.
John Gibbs county administrator who is currently on paid administrative leave put out a statement denying allegations and stating that the commissioners cannot lead the county effectively.
In an order dated February 28, 2024, Hon. Jenny L. McNeill wrote the following: “The court finds that the Board members had reached a general agreement on a settlement and directed legal counsel to write up a written agreement with those terms.”
Chairperson Joe Moss’s motion on November 6, “was too ambiguous to ratify the Board’s agreement to the terms that the parties negotiated.” Although Moss told fellow commissioners and those in attendance that the $4 million was, “a false narrative from the media and from other people.” at a recent board meeting.
Judge McNeil is asking that Hambley’s attorney Sarah Howard submit a brief within 21 days outlining her fees then the Kallman Legal Group will have 21 days to respond. Sarah Leach of the Holland Sentinel says that the Kallman legal group doesn’t feel they should pay her lawyer fees.
The Commissioners meet tonight at 6:30 at the Fillmore Street Complex. A short agenda then commissioners will go into a closed session to discuss John Gibbs and his paid administrative leave.
Accusations are flying on both sides right now.
