(Dallas, TX) – The American Heart Association is identifying a new medical condition. The condition reflects strong links between obesity, diabetes, and heart and kidney disease, according to an advisory released today. It’s called cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome or CKM for short. The American Heart Association is recognizing CKM in an effort to diagnose and treat people at risk of dying from cardiovascular disease sooner.

Evidence shows risk factors like abdominal fat and high blood sugar interacting with each other can have a negative effect on other organs in the body.
