(Isle Royale, MI) – The annual Isle Royale Winter Study by Michigan Technological University finds the wolf population is stable, but the moose population is dropping. The study is in its 65th year and findings were released last week. The wolf population is estimated to be 31, while the moose population dropped 28-percent from 2022 from one-thousand-346 to 967 due to food shortages.

Since the moose population peak in 2019 at two-thousand-60, they have declined by 54-percent.
