(PIGEON FORGE, TN)-One of the Queens of Country music is covering the signature song of the King of Michigan Rock N Roll.
Dolly Parton has announced November 17 as the release date for her debut rock album, Rockstar.
The four LP, 30-song collection features original music and covers of rock standards.
Parton performs the Bob Seger classic “Night Moves” along with fellow country superstar Chris Stapleton.
“Night Moves” reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1976.
Seger, an Ann Arbor native, has said the song’s success took him from being a Midwest act to a national headliner.
The 77-year-old Parton, inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, said she would record a “proper” rock album worthy of the distinction.
Other songs on “Rockstar” include “Let It Be” (featuring Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Peter Frampton, and Mick Fleetwood), “Purple Rain,” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” with Pink & Brandi Carlisle.
Parton has made forays into the genre, releasing versions of “Shine” by Collective Soul in 2001 and Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven” in 2002.
The album’s first single, a Dolly-penned tune called “World On Fire,” will be released this Thursday, May 11.
“World On Fire” features guitarist Richie Sambora, of Bon Jovi fame.
