(Lansing, MI) – Sexual assault survivors are urging the Michigan House to take action and pass several bills that would expand their legal options. The Senate passed Senate Bills 257 through 261 with bipartisan support several months ago. The bills eliminate the civil statute of limitations for survivors and open up an option to sue institutions that are accused of covering up the sexual abuse.
The legislation is currently before the House Government Operations Committee and no vote has been scheduled.
