(Lansing, MI) – The 2026 Poverty Task Force report says 40-percent of Michiganders are at or below the Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, and Employed or ALICE, threshold and cannot afford basic needs. The report says the Rx Kids program helping pregnant women by giving them 15-hundred-dollars when they are expecting and 500-dollars a month for at least the first six months of their baby’s life is helping people who are poor or under the ALICE threshold.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer says the task force’s recommendations “will help Michigan continue our bold progress to reduce poverty, expand economic opportunity, and help more families achieve long-term stability.”
