Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) – The League of Women Voters of the Grand Haven Area will host a meet and greet tonight. All three Grand Haven City Council Candidates, as well as Ferrysburg Mayoral and Council candidates, have been invited to the event.

Bob Monetza is running for Grand Haven Mayor, unopposed. Council candidates for Grand Haven are Sarah Kallio, Erin Lyon, and Dennis Scott. Mike Dorn is running for a partial term. Ferrysburg Mayoral candidates are current Mayor Richard Carlson and Council Member Jerry Sias. Council candidates include current Council Members Bill Cate and Debbie Murdoch, as well as newcomer Dave Cook.. Tim O’Donnell – who was eliminated from the Mayoral ballot in August’s primary election – is running for Council as a write-in candidate.

This is not a debate, but rather an opportunity for each candidate to give a brief presentation lasting three minutes each. After all candidates have spoken, attendees will be able to talk with each hopeful at tables presenting their election collateral.

Absentee ballots go out September 22, so this is a timely opportunity to learn about local candidates, ask questions and become better informed.

There is no charge for the event, and all are welcome. Founded in 1920, the League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization promoting informed citizenship.

It’s at Central Park Place, 422 Columbus Avenue in Grand Haven at 6:00 p.m. Voter information here.
