Grand Haven, MI (WGHN) –  Grand Haven City Council has approved a ground lease agreement with Copper Rock Construction to rebuild Chinook Pier, a major step toward restoring the waterfront landmark demolished in 2020 due to mold. The $15–20 million redevelopment will revive office and retail space while adding year-round amenities, including a restaurant and large community marketplace. The plan emphasizes stronger ties between Chinook Pier and downtown businesses.

Construction is expected to begin in 2026 and finish in 2027.

Also at Monday night’s city council meeting Council in a 3-1 vote council voted to approve McKenna as the consultant to prepare the Centertown Vision Plan update, with costs not to exceed the budgeted amount of $20,000, with seventy-five percent (75%) of the total cost covered through Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC) Technical Assistance funds.
